Matrix Co-Factorization on Compressed Sensing

چکیده
In this paper we address the problem of matrix factorization on compressively-sampled measurements which are obtained by random projections. While this approach improves the scalability of matrix factorization, its performance is not satisfactory. We present a matrix co-factorization method where compressed measurements and a small number of uncompressed measurements are jointly decomposed, sharing a factor matrix. We evaluate the performance of three matrix factorization methods in terms of Cramér-Rao bounds, including: (1) matrix factorization on uncompressed data (MF); (2) matrix factorization on compressed data (CSMF); (3) matrix co-factorization on compressed and uncompressed data (CS-MCF). Numerical experiments demonstrate that CS-MCF improves the performance of CS-MF, emphasizing the useful behavior of exploiting side information (a small number of uncompressed measurements).

A Block-Wise random sampling approach: Compressed sensing problem
The focus of this paper is to consider the compressed sensing problem. It is stated that the compressed sensing theory, under certain conditions, helps relax the Nyquist sampling theory and takes smaller samples. One of the important tasks in this theory is to carefully design measurement matrix (sampling operator). Most existing methods in the literature attempt to optimize a randomly initiali...

Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) has been widely used for discovering physically meaningful latent components in audio signals to facilitate source separation. Most of the existing NMF algorithms require that the number of latent components is provided a priori, which is not always possible. In this paper, we leverage developments from the Bayesian nonparametrics and compressive sensing l...

In the problem of matrix compressed sensing, we aim to recover a low-rank matrix from a few noisy linear measurements. In this contribution, we analyze the asymptotic performance of a Bayes-optimal inference procedure for a model where the matrix to be recovered is a product of random matrices. The results that we obtain using the replica method describe the state evolution of the Parametric Bi...

We investigate the problem of factoring a matrix into several sparse matrices and propose an algorithm for this under randomness and sparsity assumptions. This problem can be viewed as a simplification of the deep learning problem where finding a factorization corresponds to finding edges in different layers and also values of hidden units. We prove that under certain assumptions on a sparse li...

Design of recommender system following the latent factor model is widely cast as a matrix factorization problem yielding a rating matrix, which is a product of a dense user and a dense item factor matrices. A dense user factor matrix is a credible assumption as all users are expected to have some degree of affinity towards all the latent factors. However, for items it’s not a reasonable supposi...
